 DMARSPA SEPTEMBER 22, 2022, MINUTES
1. President Marla Carr welcomed DMARSPA members and visitors to the September 22,
2022, DMARSPA meeting.
2. Nancy Strutezenberg, of Lutheran Social Services, spoke about the refugee resettlement
program which is currently resettling refugees from Ukraine and other countries.
3. September birthdays were honored by the singing of Happy Birthday.
4. Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence.

6. BUSINESS MEETING:
A. Secretary: Sherry Wilkinson - Mike Walag read the August minutes.
1. Minutes were approved as read.
B. Treasurer’s Report: Sandra Petre -
1. GENERAL ACCOUNT: balance on hand August 25, 2022 - $5969.04,
deposits - $1358.00, Expenses - $1340.00 (Baratta’s July), $1260.00 (Baratta’s
August),Balance on hand September 22, 2022 - $4727.04.
2. SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNT: balance on hand August 25, 2022 - $328.39;
deposit $38.00, balance on hand September 22, 2022 - $366.39.
3. TOTAL on hand September 22, 2022 - $5093.43.
C. Courtesy Report: Dee Fleischacker
1. Dee has sent 61 cards to people so far this year.
2. Cards this month sent to Rosemary Hillman who had a hip replacement, Jim
Ritz who had a knee replacement and a “thinking of you” card to Diann Mackey.
D. OLD BUSINESS:
1. Make a donation to the scholarship fund.
2. Keep volunteer hours up to date.
a. Members reported 3,059 community volunteer hours and 899 youth/
education volunteer hours for the past year.
3. Let Marla know if you are interested in running for an o ffice.
4. New meeting place in January - Hy Vee on Euclid.

9. Members donated 340 items of school supplies and $546 to the Refugee resettlement
program for Ukrainian refugees.
October program: Amber Rand, Vice Principal of Orchard Place - “Mental Health and Youth.”
