We've always been a discourteous people. Ex: taking over lands, people. We were able to
keep people down who disagreed. Dumb people are a lot louder than they used to be, and
others aren't very well informed. Agree to disagree is saying, "I'm tired of hearing what you
have to say." Human brains are not designed to change their opinions. We seek confirmation
for our beliefs, not info to change our minds.

7. President Finley called the February, 2017, business meting to order
A. Secretary Minutes - Sherry Wilkinson. The misspelling of the name of Sondra
Mcallister was corrected. Minutes were approved as corrected.
B. Treasurer's Report - Rosemary Hillman. The balance on January 27, 2017,
was $9,258.65. Deposits were $905.00, with expenses of $1014 for lunch.
The checking account balance on February 23, 2017, was $9149.65. The
scholarship fund on February 23, 2017, was $2751.24. Total assets as of
February 23, 2017, were $11.909.80. Report will be filed for audit. Please direct
questions about Delta Dental to Dawn Rodgers at IRSPA.
C. Courtesy and Scholarship - Dee Flieschwaker Card sent to Mickey Hubbard upon
the death of her son; Thinking of You cards sent to Joanne Sievers and Vicky
Wailey. Dee sent out information and application forms to colleges and
universities.
If members know of anyone in an Iowa college or university
studying education, let her know. One person asked if graduate students would
qualify? The previous scholarship committee recommended it. The committee
will decide.
D. Legislative - Gary Thelen (absent). Some people concerned about the IPERS and
DM Plan merger. Justine asked if anyone had any information. DMARSPA will
try to keep members informed.
E. Old Business:
1. Continue to log your volunteer hours.
2. Continue to alert Bill and Joelle Synder of any changes for the Directory.
F. New Business:
1. Food Bank of Iowa next month; cash or check; no food items.
2. Nominating Committee asks that members consider becoming an officer.
a. Needed - a vice president and a head cashier.
8. Cashiers for next month are: Erika Brown and Sharon Cooley.
9. Announcements:
A. Bill Snyder said none of the emails sent out have bounced back. Media Com

10. Introduction of guests. 11. Dee Flieschwaker read the answers to the puzzle.
12. Warren Pitcher asked if we could thank Jack Lester from Hall of Pride for allowing us to park there; and, if he could say something to the new person about us parking there.
13. The door prize (Flowers by Irene) was won by Marla Carr. 14.
President Finley adjourned the February 23, 2017, DMARSPA business meeting at 12: 36 p.m. Our next meeting will be March 23 with the program, "On With Life" presented by Dr. David Demarest.
